About Us

Union Congregational United Church of Christ was organized on Easter Sunday of 1894. The second oldest church in West Palm Beach, the original building at the Olive and Datura Streets also served as the first school in West Palm Beach. After a fire destroyed the building the church moved to Georgia Avenue and to its present location in 1994.

You might say we have been a church on the move! Continuing the rich tradition of our Pilgrim and Puritan forebears who came to New England in the 17th century, we remain committed to the idea that there is yet “more light” to break forth from God’s Word as we seek to give contemporary expression to our faith. “Congregational” means that the authority of the church rests in the congregation, the people, and not in a hierarchy of clerics; therefore, we express the faith in ways that our shaped by our past, molded by our personalities, and guided by our vision of the future.

Union Congregational United Church of Christ is a community of progressive pilgrims. As a recent United Church of Christ ad proclaimed, Our faith is 2000 years old; our thinking is not! Rooted in our tradition we strive to “Honor the tradition but expand the understanding. That’s what religions must do right now if they hope to be helpful to humans in the years ahead“ (Neale Donald Walsch, Tomorrow’s God).

If you are looking for a church that has a rich heritage expressed in a loving community committed to the inclusive love of Jesus Christ, come and check us out!
